Bacolod Job Fair parades over 6,000 job vacancies

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office No. 6 commemorates the 124th Independence Day by holding the Kalayaan Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) Jobs and Business Fairs at SM City Bacolod on June 12, 2022.

As of press time, the Regional Office No. 6 through its Negros Occidental Field Office pooled a total of 6,079 job vacancies from 43 employers.

Thirty-seven (37) of these companies offers 4,912 local employments while 6 companies registered with 1,167 job opportunities abroad.

“We have facilitated job opportunities for fresh graduates, skilled workers, professionals and license holders,” said DOLE-6 Regional Director Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr.

Among the long list of vacancies are in the service sector, wholesale and retail, business process outsourcing, logistics, transportation and courier services, malls and pharmacies. There are also offerings for welders, mechanics, and spray painters.

RD Rodriguez added that the job fair is open even for undergraduates as it promotes equal employment opportunity, “We also invited companies that needs skilled workers. Alam naman natin na kahit mga undergraduates, pero may skills naman sila na angkop sa trabaho and they also need jobs,” Atty. Rodriguez said.

For overseas employment, there are vacancies waiting for heavy equipment operators, bar tenders, machine operators and beauty technicians among others.

“Currently we have more than 1,800 online applicants and we are expecting more as we are still accepting online applications,’ said DOLE RO No. 6-Negros Occidental Field Office Head Mary Agnes N. Capigon.

In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, the TNK Jobs and Business Fairs will also feature a skills demonstration on bamboo weaving to encourage and promote entrepreneurships for those who are inclined to engage in business.

A package of livelihood assistance will also be distributed to qualified beneficiaries during the program to promote livelihood among the vulnerable sector which is another component of the TNK.

The whole day activity will also highlight the World Day Against Child Labor Celebration with the PNP Regional Advocacy Band.
