Bacolod City plans for underground cable now

BACOLOD City – Mayor Albee Benitez sat down with the representatives of various telecommunication companies to discuss possibilities of mapping and surveying feasible areas for underground cable installation.

This came about a day after “untangling” the spaghetti wires at San Juan street.

As soon as he came in today from an out-of-town commitment, Mayor Benitez informed the attendees that the city government will create a technical team to coordinate with the telcos on this matter.

At the meeting were representatives from PLDT, Globe, Converge and Sky Cable.

Priority areas are Lacson Street and the main thoroughfares in Bacolod City.  Alongside with this initiative will be an on-going discussion with establishments and other institutions like government offices, hospitals, schools to ensure that their connectivity shall be stable and at high speed.

Also present in the meeting were Councilors Al Victor Espino and Pao Sy and Secretary to the Mayor Atty Karol Joseph P. Chiu. (PIO)
