Back-to-back stage PerfLab performances in September

THE Performance Laboratory, Inc. presents two fresh and provocatively steaming plays this September 20, 26, 27, October 4 & 5, 7:30pm at the newly inaugurated, Black Box Theater of the Cultural Hub in The Negros Museum.

HUBAD and WALANG IWANAN is a back-to-back theatre performance directed by two of PerfLab’s founding members, Renee Posecion and Fundz Tipon II, respectively.  Both plays defy the social construct of human relationships and challenges a critical understanding about its complexities.

HUBAD, written by Rody Vera and Liza Magtoto, features a comic story between a couple struggling in marriage as they attempt to explore their sexual fantasies to bring back the fire in their relationship.  It was originally staged as one of the outstanding productions of the Virgin Labfest at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in 2006.  However, this staging will mark as Renee Posecion’s directorial debut.

Together with her contemporary, is well-seasoned playwright and theatre artist, Fundz Tipon II who will direct the other play, WALANG IWANAN.  Written by Palanca Hall of Famer, Rene O. Villanueva, this material depicts a dramatic and bold narrative of two characters caught in an adulterous relationship.

As PerfLab continues to stirring the community for a sustainable theater movement in Negros, the production of these plays is also collaborative in nature, as it features not only the written works of critically acclaimed playwrights from Manila but also the creatively diverse local theatre artists of Bacolod.

For audience discretion, the plays are classified as Rated-18 and for adults only.  There is limited seating available at the venue per performance night so all interested audiences are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time.
