Auto parts store warehouse razed by fire

BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here reported that the warehouse of an auto parts store which is located beside the gutted Java pension house along Gonzaga Street was razed by fire on Saturday night.

Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, city fire marshal, said the blaze broke out around 7:37 p.m. from the warehouse, where used materials and papers are stored.

Ploteña said a traffic enforcer saw smoke coming from the building, prompting him to call for assistance.

Firefighters responded and declared the fire out around 8:03 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Ploteña said they cannot yet determine the cause of the fire because the warehouse was already abandoned. Nobody was inside the premises when it happened, he added.

Arson investigators have yet to determine the cost of damage.

Meanwhile, Ploteña clarified that the fire did not reach the adjacent pension house.
