AUPWU-Iloilo Chapter holds training on UP Merit Selection Plan

The All UP Workers Union-Iloilo Chapter conducted a training-workshop on the UP Merit Selection Plan (MSP): Implementing Guidelines and Best Practices on 16 November 2022, at the Graduate Program Audio-Visual Room, UPV Iloilo City Campus.

Attended by the officers of the Union and the Union Representative Committee (URC), the training-workshop aimed to equip members, especially the newly recruited URCs with extensive knowledge and understanding of the implementing guidelines of the UP MSP for Administrative Personnel.

The Union invited Ms. Sydna M. Lozada, former AUPWU-Iloilo Chapter President, as a resource person. Ms. Lozada oriented the participants on the 2003 UP MSP in Compliance with the 2017 Omnibus Rules on Appointment and Other Human resource Actions (revised 2018) or also known as the ORAOHRA. This was followed by the discussion on MSP criteria and its application: scoring and computation which was facilitated by Enrique N. Legaspi III.

Speakers from AUPWU-Diliman Chapter, Ms. Eva G. Cadiz, Ms. Francisca C. Vera Cruz, and former Staff Regent Mr. Clodualdo “Buboy” E. Cabrera shared their best practices in implementing the MSP and the ORAOHRA via Zoom.

In the afternoon, Ms. Johnna Malones recapped what was covered in the morning session. It was followed by an open forum, which was facilitated by Ms. Jenelie A. Acosa and Mr. Ulysses B. Alama. After the open forum the participants were divided into seven groups and were given case studies on hiring for them to deliberate and compute. Each group presented their outputs for coaching and mentoring. (Mr. Enrique N. Legaspi III)
