ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A case for arson was filed Monday afternoon against a husband who allegedly set his house on fire Saturday evening at Sitio Kabulakan in Barangay Cogon here.

Senior Fire Officer 2 Salvino Jeros, arson investigator of the Roxas City Fire Station, said the case was filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against Oliver Casador, 34.

Arson is a non-bailable case with a penalty of reclusion perpetua or imprisonment of 20 years and 1 day to 30 years.

Jeros said the case was based on the admission of the suspect and the narration of the witnesses who caught him torching his house.

Casador admitted to the police that he intentionally torched his house made of mixed light materials.

The fire also gobbled the houses of his father Jamie Casador and brother-in-law Carlo Bibit.

Casador told the police that he got angry with his wife for not returning home from Sapian, Capiz. She was with their three children to attend a benefit dance.

Pinky denied she has a lover in Sapian, as claimed by his husband.

The 30-year-old housewife told police investigator that she was invited by her friend April Jimenea to a disco party in their village. She even asked permission from her husband.

“Nga-a man basulon nya ko kay nag-laong man ko sa iya nga mabayle ako?”, she said.

According to Kaycee Lara, she saw Casador set his house on fire.

Casador’s neighbors helped quell the fire before it could spread to more houses. Bureau of Fire Protection personnel and other fire volunteers later mopped up the blaze.

Casador is now in the custody of the Roxas City police station.
