BACOLOD City – Major General Dinoh Dolina, commander of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division (ID) based in Jamindan, Capiz, condemned the attack staged by alleged members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) at Lamugong village in Manjuyod, Negros Oriental last Aug 21, 2019.

In a press statement on Thursday, Dolina said “we will not allow this terrorist organization to cast another savagery against our people and their properties.”

“We are one with the people of Negros Oriental in condemning the cruelty of the CPP-NPA terrorist against the people of Barangay Lamugong,” Dolina said.

On Wednesday morning, the military reported that about 15 armed men took control of a market place at Lamugong before barging in the barangay hall, interrupting the meeting of barangay officials and some residents who were discussing the proposed Identification (ID) card system for residents.

The rebels then allegedly took the village chief’s handheld radio and cellular phone.

According to the military, the rebels’ incursion happened after the Army and the police discovered their alleged bomb factory in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental over the weekend.

After the incident, Dolina said he instructed their troops to run after the rebels.

He also called on the people to be vigilant and report the presence, movement, and activities of the perpetrators to prevent them from casting similar atrocities.
