Another officer chosen to head Guimbal PNP

ALMOST a week after temporarily leading the police station of Guimbal, Iloilo, Chief Inspector Raymund Celoso was relieved from his post.

Chief Inspector Remie Alavaren replaced Celoso to head the town’s police force.

Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, Iloilo police chief, said there is nothing dubious with Celoso’s relief.

“He was placed there on a temporary status,” he said.

Celoso took over Guimbal PNP immediately after Senior Inspector Antonio Monreal Jr. was relieved over the controversial mauling incident involving Rep. Oscar “Richard” Garin Jr. and Guimbal Mayor Oscar Garin Sr. on Dec. 26, 2018.

Celoso, who was then assigned at the IPPO headquarters, was designated to investigate the matter. He was eventually assigned to lead Guimbal PNP.

“But we already have to start with our pre-charge investigation to determine the possible culpability, if any, of Guimbal police personnel. Chief Inspector Celoso will head the pre-charge probe,” Tayaba said.

Alavaren, the outgoing Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Section (PIDMS) chief, was eventually chosen to head the Guimbal police.

Tayaba said Alavaren had been chief of police of several towns in Iloilo and is believed to have an extensive knowledge and skills in running a police station.
