Another Bacolod City worker succumbs to coronavirus

BACOLOD City – A 62-year-old female employee is the sixth Bacolod City government worker to die from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

City Administrator Em Ang said the female employee was assigned to the City Treasurer’s Office but had been detailed to the old City Hall in the downtown area.

Ang said she was cremated and buried Tuesday.

The female employee was a resident of Barangay 9 and had been working from home since March when the lockdown started due to a pre-existing health condition.

Another city government employee who succumbed to COVID-19 was a 33-year-old male frontliner assigned to Councilor Israel Salanga, chairperson of the Action Team on Returning OFWs.

The other fatalities were a 59-year-old market sweeper assigned to the Libertad Public Market; a male employee of the Public Order and Safety Office assigned to the Task Force Disiplina; and two employees assigned to the Land Tax Division at the Bacolod City Government Center.

As of this writing Bacolod City has 1,315 COVID-19 cases with 746 active cases, 543 recovered cases and 26 deaths.
