The weeklong operations against illegal drugs in Western Visayas yielded almost P8 million worth of illegal drugs, particularly shabu.

Records from the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 indicated that shabu weighing 1.167 kilos with a DDB (Dangerous Drugs Board) value of P7,936,348 were recovered during 46 police operations from February 6 to 12.

These led to the arrest of 64 suspects.

Unsurprisingly, more than half of the confiscated drugs were seized by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).

Members of BCPO confiscated 674.24 grams of shabu worth P4,584,832.

The biggest haul the BCPO scored was in the arrest of two suspects at Purok Tangigue, Barangay 1 on Feb 9.

They yielded around 600 grams of suspected shabu worth P4,080,000.

With 268 grams of confiscated shabu worth P1,823,964, the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) is in second place.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) seized shabu worth P603,160; Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with P550,180; Negros Occidental PPO with P355,640; and Aklan PPO with P17,952.

Both Antique PPO and Guimaras PPO did not report any operation.

Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said that Antique and Guimaras PPOs might have posted zero operations because of lesser drug affectation.

Latest reports indicated that Antique has posted a 99.66 percent barangay drug clearing rate while Guimaras is at 96.93 percent.

“There is lesser supply and wala na masyado watchlisted targets,” she said.

These areas are doing more demand reduction efforts to sustain their gains, as opposed to supply reduction activities.

Meanwhile, Negros Occidental PPO conducted the most number of anti-illegal drug operations with 18.

Bacolod City cops mounted 11 operations while Iloilo City had eight.
