Almost 15,000 Ilonggos receive COVID jabs in mass vaccination

Close to 15,000 Ilonggos were inoculated in the two-day massive vaccination rollout by the Iloilo City government from June 24-25, 2021.

14,781 individuals received free COVID-19 jabs at four vaccination sites.

Based on data from the Iloilo City Vax Team, 7,433 Ilonggos were vaccinated on Thursday, the highest number of vaccinated persons in a day, so far.

The figure includes 1,857 vaccinated at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICON) and Central Philippine University (CPU), 1,749 at Ateneo de Iloilo, and 1,980 at the University of San Agustin (USA).

The following day, the city government inoculated 7,388 individuals with 1,939 accommodated at ICON, 1,599 at Ateneo, 1,800 at CPU, and 2,000 at USA.

In a statement issued on Friday, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas thanked the vaccination team for the huge milestone.

“7,338 Ilonggos vaccinated today. Thank you gid sa aton vaccination team. Dako gid pasalamatan sang tanan sa inyo. Indi kita perfect pero tanan gina-obra ta para sa mga Ilonggo. Salamat gid nga madamo sa inyo tanan,” he said.

Recently, 10,000 vials of Sinovac and 5,850 doses of Pfizer were allocated to the city government and the same doses were administered during the two-day massive vaccination.

Meanwhile, Treñas asked for more volunteer medical doctors and nurses to help the city in its massive vaccination.
