ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 46-year-old woman was arrested in an entrapment operation Monday afternoon at the house of a friend in Altavas subdivision, Arnaldo Boulevard here.

Cherry Buhat did not resist when members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Capiz) arrested her upon receiving payment for a land transaction she allegedly tried to fix.

Aside from the P500 marked money placed on top of the P19,500 boodle or fake money used in the entrapment, police also seized from Buhat an original Transfer Certificate of Title (TCT).

According to Police Chief Inspector Chris Arthemius Devaras, CIDG-Capiz chief, charges for violations of Anti-Fixing Law, robbery, extortion, and swindling will be filed against the suspect who is presently detained at the custody of the said police station.

Police investigation indicated that Buhat offered the complainant, a certain Mr. Gardose of Poblacion Tapaz, Capiz, to facilitate the transfer of his land titles through her connections with the Provincial Registry of Deeds in the province of Capiz.

Devaras said the suspect demanded P60,000 for the processing. But when the transaction was completed, the suspect demanded another P20,000 in exchange for the processed TCT.

Gardose then sought the help of the CIDG which led to the entrapment operation.

Buhat refused to comment to the media.
