BACOLOD City – A person was arrested for allegedly stealing cable wires of a telecommunications firm in Barangay Singcang-Airport here last Tuesday.

Police collared Joel Reunir, 21, of the said barangay, while his two companions identified as a certain “Boyboy Ticar,” of the said village, and a certain “Negro,” of Barangay Handumanan here, are at large.

Police Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said representatives of the telco firm responded to a complaint of a client after they experienced a problem with their internet signal.

When they arrived in the area, they discovered that their cable junction box was already destroyed. This prompted them to report the incident to the police.

Puerto said that policemen were able to track down the hideout of the suspects. However, only Reunir was arrested, as his two companions managed to escape using a tricycle.

Police recovered from Reunir two batteries, a krone terminal connector, a sachet of suspected shabu, and an improvised tooter.

Puerto said they have been monitoring the said group which allegedly targets to steal cable wires in Barangays Singcang-Airport and Tangub.

Puerto said that Reunir was on the drugs watchlist of the police station and the barangay as an alleged drug user.

He (Reunir) had previous complaints of physical injury and threats from his sibling and father, according to Puerto.

“Daw siga (thug) na da siya abi sa ila,” Puerto said.

Puerto said that Reunir is an alleged thief in the barangay. But no official complaints were filed against him or reported to the police, the station commander added.

Charges for robbery will be filed against the three suspects, while Reunir has an additional case for illegal possession of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.
