BACOLOD City – Revenge is eyed as motive in the case of an alleged drug personality who was stabbed dead by an alleged drug offender in Barangay Recreo, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Boylin Dela Torre, 45, of Barangay Miranda.

Lieutenant Rowell Peniero, deputy police chief of Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said Dela Torre and the suspect, who was later identified as Bobby Casimero, 45, of Barangay Miranda, came from a funeral wake.

“Dungan sila kadto sa namatyan na nakainom na, then dungan man sila puli, hubog na,” Peniero said.

Peniero said that some witnesses pointed to Casimero as the last person who was with Dela Torre when they left the wake.

When the two were on their way home, Peniero said that Casimero, who was driving a tricycle, stopped for a while to urinate.

But Dela Torre reportedly drove the tricycle, attempting to leave Casimero. This irked Casimero, which triggered him to stab Dela Torre.

Peniero said that Dela Torre suffered 14 stab wounds in the chest, three each in the head and arms. He was then found dead at the roadside while the suspect was later arrested at a house of his co-worker in Barangay Recreo.

“May kaakig gid ang suspect sa biktima,” Peniero said, adding that the victim allegedly killed the suspect’s brother in 1997.

“Basi bala subong lang nakakita tiempo magbalos, tapos nakainom pa,” Peniero said. However, the knife used in the incident was not recovered, as the suspect allegedly threw it somewhere.

Peniero said the suspect was arrested in 2018 for a drug offense and was later released through plea bargain.

Murder charges will be filed against Casimero, according to Peniero.
