BACOLOD City – Finally, 2,023 couples will exchange “I dos” today, March 11, 2023, at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds with First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos as the main sponsor.

Bacolod City Public Information Officer, Carmela Arcolas- Gamboa said Friday that the First Lady has confirmed her presence at the event.

Dubbed “Officially You and Me sa ’23 with Mayor Albee,” the mass wedding will include a raffle draw to give away various prizes to the married couples.

Earlier, Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez said that the city is eyeing a Guinness World Record for the most number of couples to tie the knot in a single-venue mass wedding.

“Our mass wedding for the 2,023 couples is in line with the year 2023,” the mayor further said.

The mass wedding has already been postponed twice after the Feb. 14 and March 3 initial dates.

He said special wedding rites were held on March 3 for the couples “who can no longer wait” for the March 11 event.

“They want their union with their loved ones to happen March 3 (so) I decided to hold a small wedding ceremony for the couples who have already prepared for that day,” he said.
