The Adamson University Lady Falcons women’s volleyball squad recorded their first win in the UAAP Season 84 after dispatching the Ateneo Lady Eagles in just four sets, 25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-12.

Ateneo’s disappointing loss handed them their third-straight defeat in the opening week of the UAAP and is yet to enter the winning column after losses against De La Salle University and National University.

Adamson’s losing streak against Ateneo has also been broken since winning their last matchup way back in UAAP Season 75 during the time of Alyssa “The Phenom” Valdez.

Despite conceding the first set due to unforced errors and poor defensive communication, the Lady Falcons flipped the switch and swept the remaining three sets leaving the Ateneo squad stunned.

Trisha Genesis took over and embraced the limelight after dropping 17 points built from 15 successful attacks, one block, and one ace.

It was Genesis who steered the Lady Falcons to a three-set sweep and just went unconscious offensively against the tall middle blockers of Ateneo.

The duo of Mary Ann Nuique and Lucille Almonte then backstopped Genesis in the scoring department and went big in the last two sets after providing the spark that halted Ateneo’s run in the third set.

Nuique contributed 15 points and 13 excellent digs while Almonte chipped in 12 points and 12 excellent receptions.

On the other hand, Faith Nisperos led the Lady Eagles with a team-high 16-point production and is seeking to bounce back against the Far Eastern University tomorrow.
