Accountability, honesty, professional underscored on PNP’s Foundation Day

By Jennifer P. Rendon

Public office is a public trust.

This was the message conveyed by Iloilo 4th district Rep. Ferjenel Biron to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 during the celebration of the 32nd PNP Foundation Day Celebration at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City on Feb 13, 2023.

Biron was the guest of honor and speaker of the occasion, which also saw the awarding of several PRO-6 personnel for their exemplary performances.

As a public official, Biron said that he always adheres to the most ideal concept of public service that public officers and employees are accountable to the people.

“Just like any civil servant of the government, all police officers shall be mindful always that in everything that you do in the pursuit of protecting and securing the safety of our people and community, you should be accountable for all your actions,” he said.

Aside from accountability, Biron also enthused policemen to display and execute the highest form of professionalism in the performance of their duty.

“And above all, you should be honest at all times,” he said citing that he has consistently endeavored to uplift the lives of the people, especially the poor and the sick.

While there were only a few who were given awards, Biron said that all officers deserve the recognition as they have been risking their lives on a daily basis.

“For this, I admire and honor you all. For every day that you are brave, for every moment that you are loyal to our nation, for every act of kindness and the service you give to our countrymen,” he said.

He also assured to be of assistance if PRO-6 needs him.

“We, in the public service, must unite and help each other in any way we can to effectively perform the mandate of our offices and better serve our people for God and for country,” he said.
