94% of new cases are in NegOcc, Bacolod City

A total of 250 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were reported in Western Visayas by the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) on Sept. 9, 2020.

Negros Occidental province and Bacolod City accounted for 235, or 90 percent, of the new cases.

Based on the DOH report, 126 new cases were in Negros Occidental province while 109 are in Bacolod City.

Iloilo City has 11 new cases, Iloilo province with 3, and Guimaras province with 1 new case.

Aklan, Antique, and Capiz provinces did not log new cases as of Wednesday.

Based on categories, 232 new cases are local transmissions, 10 Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI), 5 Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF), 3 Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR).

By symptoms, 192 new cases are asymptomatic, 44 have Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI), and 14 have Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI).

The region also posted 273 new recoveries, most of which are in Iloilo City with 238, followed by Iloilo province with 24, Bacolod City with 6, and Capiz province with 5.

The region also registered another COVID-19 death, an 85-year-old female from Jaro, Iloilo City who passed away on Aug. 21.

The DOH-WV CHD released 1,581 laboratory results on Sept. 9, from 7 accredited Sub-National and Molecular Laboratories across the region.

Data by the DOH-WV CHD as of Sept. 9 indicated that the region has had a total of 6,632 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 3,013 active cases, 3,524 recoveries, and 95 deaths.
