800 Sagaynons get help from medical missions

Representatives of Mabuhay Deseret Foundation hold a medical mission that provided free eyeglasses to about 400 Sagaynons on Aug. 3.

MORE than 800 Sagaynons benefitted in two separate medical missions held by two non-government organizations on Aug. 3 and Aug. 8, respectively, at the Sagay City Gymnasium.

About 400 individuals availed various medical services for free by the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation and another 425 Sagaynons during the medical mission held by the In Christ Alone Ministry Estefania Inc. and New York Phil-Am Lions Club and the Sagay City Government.

On Aug. 3, the In Christ Alone Ministry held the “Vision is our Mission” program where they provided free eyeglasses to 400 people with poor vision.

The turnover was held at the city gym led by Ministry President Judilyn Cañete, and Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III.

Meanwhile, the Mabuhay Deseret Foundation catered about 425 individuals for various services like eye consultations, and provision of free reading and prescription glasses, and frames on Aug. 8.

Mayor Marañon said he is grateful for the altruism of these individuals and organization for extending help to our residents.

Apart from the medical missions in partnership with these NGOs, the city government is also conducting the “Lapis kag Papel” program where the city government is distributing school supplies to all the Sagay schools.

The school supplies distribution has been ongoing since last month in time with the opening of classes.
