BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson aired his concern after it was learned that eight of the 41 Transcom employees who tested positive for Covid-19 are from outside Bacolod.
Lacson said they may have returned to their homes through public transportation, even as he hoped that they did not spread the virus.
He also said that Bacolod City is on top of the situation as all 41 employees have already been identified and quarantined.
The Bacolod City government will have to deal with the company if protocols were violated, the governor added.
On the call of the city government for uniformed health protocols for the city and the province on returning residents, Lacson said “our protocols have been there from the very beginning. Bacolod City has its reason to implement its own health protocols.”
“As far as the province is concerned, we will continue our protocols. The protocol for locally stranded individuals is that they are being swabbed upon their arrival at the Bacolod-Silay Airport, while returning overseas Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers are requested to avail of the free RT-PCR testing by the provincial government.”
Lacson also reminded provincial government employees not to report for work if they do not feel well upon waking up.
“We have to be disciplined enough over whether we should go to work or not,” he said citing reports that the Transcom employee went to work despite having the symptoms.
Meanwhile Bacolod City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan said that the operations of Transcom Bacolod will be suspended until February 3 to make sure that its premises are sanitized and disinfected.
