8 caught for illegal fishing in Roxas City

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Eight persons and three fishing boats were apprehended Tuesday afternoon for alleged illegal fishing in the waters of Roxas City.

The Roxas City Bantay Dagat identified the arrested suspects as Rizaldy Arrojado, 58; Ramil Celorico; Erol Pandez; Felicito Romano 42; Mark Dela Cruz, 19; Reynaldo Rago, 57; Willy Abayon; and Winefredo Alayon, 54, all of Barangay Libas here.

Recovered from the suspects were several fishing boats, gear, and paraphernalia.

The suspects were placed in the custody of Bantay Dagat including the motorbanca for proper disposition.

Meanwhile, four persons were charged for illegal gambling after they were arrested Monday afternoon for playing cara y cruz or tumbo in Brgy. Baybay here.

Charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Anti-illegal Gambling Law were filed before the City Prosecutors Office against Ryan Jacinto Benid, 42, of Purok 1;  Fernan Villanueva Bellosillo, 27, of Purok 2, both of Barangay Libas here;  Alexander Sereneo Delay, 52, of Altavas Boulevard in Barangay Baybay; and Darleno Apilit Barona, 60, of Sitio San Juan Barangay Baybay.

The four were nabbed after Roxas Component City Police Station received information that there were persons playing illegal games in Baybay.

Recovered from the suspects were three pieces of P5 coin, a concrete board game, a marker pen, four plastic chairs, chalk, and P597 bet money of various denominations.
