POLICE auxiliaries will be trained and supervised by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said the City Government-hired police auxiliaries will augment ICPO as force multipliers to secure night spots, following the revocation of liquor ban in the metropolis.

A total of 59 police auxiliaries attended a pre-turnover under P/Lt. Col. Rogen O. Morales, deputy city director for operational control and supervision and P/Maj. Ruel F. Firmo, chief operation officer at ICPO Aug. 8.

They also underwent pre-orientation for peace and order conducted by P/CMSgt. Leo Angelo T. Castro Aug. 9.

They used to be under City Hall’s Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO).

Eleven (11) have been trained as bike patrols to watch over the Esplanade to catch vandals.

Treñas initiated the endeavor to ensure public safety and serve as solution to vandalism and stop those who try to destroy the good image of government projects and properties.

They beef up security measures to maintain peace and order in the open space for the safety of everybody.

Apart from graffiti on walls and posts, vandals had turned to uprooting the ornamental plants at Esplanade earlier, as the bad acts were discovered by personnel of the city’s beautification program.

Graffiti sprayed by unidentified unscrupulous individuals on newly-opened Esplanade beside Gaisano mall in La Paz district was cleared by a concerned biker recently. (Iloilo City PIO)
