BACOLOD City – How can something so delicious also be deadly?
A tragic incident happened in a family after a five-year-old boy choked to death on a wafer biscuit inside their house at Barangay Gil Montilla, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental Tuesday night.
Dionilo Bogtae, executive assistant for public safety, withheld the name of the victim upon the request of the family.
Bogtae said the incident happened when the victim’s parents were preparing dinner that night. “They probably left their child unattended while eating the biscuit at their living room,” he added.
Bogtae said they responded to the call for assistance and saw the victim’s mother trying to save her son, who was already unconscious.
His father rushed him outside, where rescuers applied first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the child but he was already unresponsive.
The child was brought to a hospital but was already declared dead on arrival.
