44 loose firearms turned over to police

PONTEVEDRA, Capiz – 44 loose firearms were turned over to the police in Pontevedra, Capiz.

The firearms included 19 handguns, 25 long firearms, a rifle grenade, and several live ammunitions.

The turnover ceremony was held during the launch of the “Tokhang Kontra Guinadumilian nga Pusil” and “End Local Communist Armed Conflict” (ELCAC) campaigns of the police.

“The surrendered firearms were the result of the campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms so that the locals would feel more secure and safe in their daily activities,” said Police Lt Col Julius Balano, acting PNP provincial director.

The activity was held at Pontevedra police station and witnessed by its police chief, Police Maj. Cristopher Candelario with the help of local officials.

Also present was Capiz First District Board Member Esteban Jose Contreras, barangay officials and the media.
