346 jail officers in Negros get COVID-19 vaccines

BACOLOD City – 346 members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Negros Occidental have been vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of July 31, 2021.

Atty. Jairus Anthony Dogelio, spokesperson of (BJMP)-6, said that 80 have received their first dose, while 266 already got their second dose.

For persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the province, 16 were inoculated in Binalbagan jail and 58 others in Talisay jail, according to Dogelio.

In Bacolod jail, 99 percent of the PDLs in Metro Bacolod District Jail-Special Intensive Care Area (MBDJ-Sica) in Barangay Singcang-Airport, and MBDJ in Barangay Handumanan were already vaccinated through the help of the local government unit (LGU).

Dogelio said they are waiting for the vaccines from the LGUs in case there will be allocation for the PDLs.

Meanwhile, Dogelio said that 65 percent of the BJMP personnel in Western Visayas were already vaccinated, as of July 31.

Of this figure, 815 or 66.14 percent received their first dose, and 607 or 48.02 percent got their second dose of Pfizer, Sinovac, and AstraZeneca vaccines.

He added that 21 others received the single dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Dogelio added that 428 personnel or 33.86 percent have yet to receive their COVID-19 jabs.
