30th CRM celebration kicks off in Guimaras

The 30th Civil Registration Month (CRM) officially kicked off in Guimaras province spearheaded by the Civil Registrars Association of Guimaras (CRAG) and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)- Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office on Feb 03, 2020 at the Municipal Hall of San Lorenzo, Guimaras.

“This year’s celebration carries the theme “Shaping CRVS by Embracing New Trends in the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR),” PSA-Guimaras Provincial Statistics Officer (PSO) Nelida B. Losare said.

“We designed series of activities for the opening of the CRM celebration annually and the hosting is on rotation basis among the five Municipalities and this year, the CRAG and the PSA- Guimaras prepared five major activities such as, information caravan, launching or unveiling of the citizen’s charter and Manual of Operation of Guimaras Municipal Civil Registry Offices, the Quiz Bee, the Logo Making contest for the CRAG logo, and the press interview to fully disseminate the information to the general public” Losare added.

The caravan, which aims to stir awareness of the general public about the celebration and the importance of getting everyone registered, started in Sibunag to Nueva Valencia, Jordan, Buenavista and ended in the host town San Lorenzo.

“We are glad to host the opening ceremony of this year’s CRM celebration as part of our 25 days countdown to our Silver Founding Anniversary,” San Lorenzo Municipal Civil Registrar Rosalie Abregoso said.

Losare officially declared the opening of the month-long celebration of the 30th CRM in the province.

PSA-6 OIC Regional Director Marlene Y. Alviar stressed the challenges in Civil Registration that MCRs and the PSA are facing.

Alviar also cited the 4th Industrial Revolution which has the potential to raise global income levels and improve the quality of life of the people, and the need to focus on the technologies driving it.

The PSA is now implementing the Decentralized Copy Annotation Program to hasten the annotation of documents.
