ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Three former governors of Capiz will help the administration of Governor Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras in pushing for better governance in the next three years.

Former governors Jose “Ting” Borda, Vicente Bermejo and Victor Tanco Sr. are now part of the newly organized Capiz Council for Local Governance.

Contreras confirmed the participation of the three former governors in the council as the three have been proven of their expertise in good local governance for the benefits of the Capicenos.

According to the governor, there is no need to put up an office at the provincial capitol for the said council as the chief executive is merely consulting the former governors regarding the proposed projects and programs.

Meanwhile, former governor Antonio del Rosario has yet to confirm his participation, after he was invited to join with the council.

It may be recalled that the three former governors, including former governor and father of the incumbent governor, Esteban “Dodoy” Contreras, were present during the inauguration of Nonoy Contreras last June 30, 2019 at the Capiz Gym.

It was learned that the four former governors had a part in the victory of Nonoy Contreras, an independent candidate, against reelectionist Del Rosario of the Liberal Party.

Nonoy Contreras defeated Del Rosario by a margin of 17,000 votes.
