The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 will deploy around 2,771 personnel to ensure the public’s safety during the Holiday season.

Under Oplan Ligtas Kapaskuhan 2022, PRO-6 aims to heighten police visibility to ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Major Mary Grace Borrio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said these police personnel will be deployed to places of convergence such as churches, malls, transport terminals, and similar places.

With the country almost going back to normal, Borio said they expect an influx of churchgoers, travelers, and shoppers.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 has already laid out its preparations for the “Simbang Gabi,” which will start on December 1.

Brigadier General Leo Francisco, Western Visayas police chief, has ordered field commanders to step-up police visibility and preventive patrol operations to ensure the safety and security of churchgoers.

Francisco also reminded the public to be extra cautious when leaving their homes.

When hearing mass, they must ensure that all doors are locked, appliances are turned off and no lighted candles are left unattended.

“Ako po at ang aking buong kapulisan sa Region 6 ay humihingi ng kooperasyon ng lahat para sa ligtas at mapayapang pagdiriwang ng kapaskuhan. Gawin po natin ang ating kanya kanyang responsibilidad dahil ang kaligtasan ng bawal isa ay hindi po lamang trabaho ng Pulis kundi ng bawat mamamayan,” he said.
