27 former rebels get financial aid

BACOLOD City – At least 27 former rebels get a chance to reintegrate into the mainstream of society after receiving financial assistance from the government.

The 27 former rebels (FRs) received financial assistance from the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP, at the Capitol, Friday (June 22).

E-CLIP is a government program that aims to help the rebel members of CPP-NPA-NDF and Militia ng Bayan to restore their allegiance to the government and be reintegrated back to the community.

The 25 FRs received a total of P660,000; two FRs received P71,000 financial assistance and P39,000 for their firearms remuneration.

The financial benefits are intended for their development as they join the mainstream society.

Gov. Bong Lacson and DILG-Negros Occ. Provincial Director, Roselyn Quintana led the distribution of financial assistance to the FRs, together with Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, 303rd IB Commander, General Inocencio Pasaporte, and NOCPPO Director, Colonel Leo Pamittan.
