The current 13,000-strong Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) got a boost with the hiring of additional warm bodies.
In a press statement, PRO-6 said that 205 recruits officially joined the PRO-6 ranks in a ceremony on Oct 30.
The recruits – 162 males and 43 females – took their oath of office at the Regional Training Center 6 in Bacolod City.
PNP chief General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan virtually officiated the oath-taking ceremony.
Similar oath-taking rites were simultaneously done in other regions all over the country.
Cascolan reminded the newly appointed police officers to always keep in mind the PNP values: service, honor, and justice.
“As police officers you should be a symbol of honesty and good workmanship for generations to come. Enrich every lesson learned towards progressive organization through honesty and integrity in service. I want you to be a part of raising the standard of our service and we wholeheartedly offer true and honest service to our countrymen,” Cascolan said.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, attested that all PNP aspirants undergo a stringent process before they join the organization.
“This is to ensure that only those who are fit and qualified join the long line of police service,” he said.
Despite the new addition, it was gathered that the Western Visayas police force still falls short of the ideal 1:500 police to population ratio.
The hiring of additional 205 personnel will fill in the quota for 2020.
