2023 Dinagyang Skateboard and BMX competition a success

The 2023 “For The Love” Dinagyang Skateboard and BMX Competition was a huge success last January 15, 2023, held at the Iloilo City Public Skate park.

Organized by Christopher “Ping” Leccio Hurich’s SKATE LIFE PING, the event was made possible through its partnership with Vans and Ill City Clothing.

A total of 72 competitors vied for the City of Love’s Dinagyang Skateboarding championship grouped into three categories: Class A, Class B, and the participants in the side games.

Meanwhile, in the BMX competition, seven bikers joined in the Class A, 22 in Class B, and 30 competitors ground out in the side games.

After a tricks-filled day at the Iloilo City Public Skate park, Rheco Labuasas was hailed as the champion in the skateboarding Class A competition while Ken Paul Glaraga and Marj Rusiana placed second and third, respectively.

For the Class B category, Ronald Perez flipped his way to the championship title while Ceezar Alamo IV bagged the second place and Kurt Steven third.

Glaraga meanwhile bounced back in the side games and clinched the highest ollie and the longest ollie game. The longest kick-flip was won by Bobby Kabayao Cura while the best trick award went to Labuasas.

In the BMX competition, Raymart Flores ruled the Class A category followed by Jecc Edullantes and Jheimar Becera Jr.

Joshua James Lapido then dominated the other 21 competitors in Class B of the BMX competition while RJ Venturillo and Jayser Jhon Victoriano grabbed the second and third-place finishes, respectively.

Victoriano wowed the crowd during the side games as he nabbed the long jump championship title while James Bryan Kottke had the best trick.

The event was also brought to the Ilonggos by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, Iloilo City Government, Iloilo City Sports Development Division, Rudiver Jungco Sr., and Rein Dayot.
