The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office is currently conducting the 2022 Updating of the List of Establishments (ULE) covering 128 establishments, 68 percent of which were already enumerated as of this date.
The 128 establishments were from the five (5) municipalities of Guimaras; 40 in Buenavista, 32 in Jordan, 23 in Nueva Valencia, 22 in San Lorenzo, and 11 in Sibunag.
“Aside from the ULE identified barangays, 17 Non-ULE barangays (or those with no listed establishments in 2021) will be visited for validation/verification of the presence of establishments,” PSA-Guimaras ULE Focal Person/Supervising Statistical Specialist, Vicente Geonanga said.
“New establishments found during the operation will also be listed and added to the list of establishments,” Geonanga added.
Geonanga also elaborated that the office hired a Statistical Researcher (SR) for two months (August 15 to October 15, 2022) to conduct the field verification of temporarily closed establishments.
“This statistical activity is a regular undertaking by the PSA to provide an updated and reliable sampling frame for the establishment and enterprise-based census and surveys,” Geonanga said.
Geonanga also expounded that the 2022 ULE aims to revisit and update the status of establishments that temporarily closed/stopped operations during the previous conduct of the ULE.
The data generated from the List of Establishments (LE) are used by the government and the private sector in the policy formulations, recommendations, monitoring, and implementation of industry development programs in the country.
“An establishment, which is the unit of enumeration, is defined as an economic unit that engages in one or predominantly one kind of economic activity; under single ownership or control, that is under a single legal entity; and, at a single fixed physical location,” Geonanga said.
Meanwhile, the PSA Guimaras is urging the support of all business establishment units province-wide for the 2022 ULE by providing the required information to the authorized PSA interviewer.
“In cases where the personal interview is not possible, options to provide information through other modes are available such as Self-Administered Questionnaire in either printed form or fillable-pdf format, and telephone interview,” Geonanga said.
