2022 Chairman’s Cup U-21 semifinals ready to take basketball spotlight

After almost a month of elimination games, the 2022 Chairman’s Cup Under-21 basketball boys semifinals are finally ready to kick off today, 4:00 PM to be held at the Western Institute of Technology (WIT) new site basketball gym.

In the first bracket, team Conce Crita Villa, Tigbauan Ninja Gladiators, team Hustle, and the Phantom Elite Roxas will be vying for a spot in the grand finals.

Meanwhile, team Elite Lab, Guimaras Jr. Leopards, team ATOP, and Pototan will compose the other semifinals bracket of the prestigious tournament.

Looking to extend their respective undefeated streaks in the Chairman’s Cup are the Conce Crita Villa and the Elite Lab who are yet to taste a single defeat since the eliminations.

Conce Crita is composed of selected standout players from the University of San Agustin and Sta. Clarita International School while Elite Lab is composed of coach John Guanco’s wards under St. Robert’s International School.

The Tigbauan Ninja Gladiators are also one of the teams that stood out in the tournament and finished the eliminations with an impressive 5-1 win-loss record.

Since tasting defeat at the hands of team Conce Crita, the Tigbauanons then won four straight games in a row including a huge one over the Hua Siong team carrying the name of team Hustle.

The team, headed by their team manager Mary Ann Portia Bernil, also extends their heartfelt thanks to Vice Mayor Nene Teruel and SB Reynald Tumabotabo for their help to the Ninjas.

Team Elite Lab will begin the U-21 semifinals as they take on Team Pototan to be followed by a duel between Conce Crita and Phantom Elite Roxas.

For the schedule on April 6, the first game of the semifinals will be played between Guimaras and team ATOP while the Tigbauan Ninjas will take on team Hustle in the last game.

The 2022 Chairman’s Cup is organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) & Toyota Iloilo, brought by Juanito T. Uy and Fanny L. Uy in cooperation with Iloilo City.
