2019 CRM celebration in Guimaras officially opens

THE month-long celebration of the 2019 Civil Registration Month (CRM) in Guimaras province officially opened on February 1, 2019 with an info drive/caravan around the province from the town of Buenavista and passed through San Lorenzo, Sibunag, Nueva Valencia to Jordan.

The caravan was followed by an opening ceremony and quiz bee contest for the local civil registrar (LCR) staff and the civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) system jingle interpretation dance contest for high school students in the afternoon.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras in partnership with the Municipal Civil Registrars took the lead in the Info drive/caravan around Guimaras province while playing the CRVS Jingle to stir awareness of the public about the celebration.

Vice Mayor Gerardo Gaitan of Jordan welcomed the participants in behalf of Mayor Ruben B. Corpuz who joined the activities in the afternoon for the awarding of winners.

“I am very much delighted of the support of the Local Chief Executive of each Municipality to their respective Municipal Civil Registrars, not only for today’s activity but for all the activities lined up in the whole month of February,” said Provincial Statistics Officer (PSO) Nelida B. Losare.

“Words are not enough to say thank you to all of you, without your support we can’t achieve the objectives of the CRM celebration which is to promote the global advocacy of getting everyone registered and of promoting awareness on the importance of civil registration in the lives of every Filipino,” she added.

After her message, Losare officially opened the 2019 Civil Registration Month

celebration in Guimaras.

The series of activities lined-up all throughout the month include:

-mass wedding of every municipality starting Feb 14 in Jordan and Buenavista;

-Feb 19 in San Lorenzo; and

-Feb 20 in Nueva Valencia; Hinun-anon of Sibunag municipality, School fora on Kaathagan sa Rehistrasyon Sibil; mobile registration in every municipality; quiz bee contest; poetry and CRVS interpretation dance contest municipal elimination round; and the battle of champions during the culminating activity.

The activities are lined up in consonance with the Presidential Proclamation No. 682 signed by the then President Corazon C. Aquino on Jan 28, 1991 declaring February of every year as Civil Registration Month.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “Inclusive and Responsive CRVS: Working Smarter through Innovation.”
