2 dead in weekend shootings

BACOLOD City – Two persons were shot dead in separate incidents in Negros Occidental on Saturday.

In San Carlos City, Mark Roben Dejos, 26, of Barangay III, was gunned down at the said village.

Police records showed that Dejos was resting in his room when two unidentified armed men stormed inside their house and asked the victim’s wife if he was home.

Upon confirming his identity, the gunmen allegedly shot the victim three times while he was lying on the bed.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. The perpetrators fled on a motorcycle.

Police are looking into illegal drugs and his cockfighting activities as possible angles in the killing.

In La Castellana town, Rene Sumadhay, 41, of Barangay Sag-ang was killed by two unidentified men at the said village.

Police records showed that the victim was on his way home riding a tricycle when the perpetrators shot him.

The victim was found lying on the ground with five gunshot wounds on different parts of his body.

Recovered from the scene were five fired cartridges of caliber .9mm ammunition.
