BACOLOD City – Rescuers still have yet to find a woman who went missing after she drowned along with her 11-year-old daughter in a river in Barangay Ma-ao, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Monday.

Police Master Sergeant Colie Dionela, case investigator of Bago City Police Station, said that Myra Gargaceran, 43, is still missing, as of 5 p.m. yesterday.

Gargaceran’s daughter was found lifeless in the said river on Monday night, several hours after the incident.

Dionela said the incident happened when heavy rains occurred around 1 p.m.

The victims’ house was near the river and it is believed that flood water swept away the child’s slippers.

The child tried to retrieve her slippers but she was swept by the strong river current. Her mother tried to save her, but she also drowned.

Dionela said that the search and retrieval operation was suspended on Tuesday afternoon and will resume the following day.
