10 incubatees graduate from Coastline 5023 FTBI

Ten incubatees of the Coastline 5023: DOST PCAARD – UPV FTBI graduated during the Venture Out: Incubatee Graduation Ceremony held at the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences AV Hall, Miagao campus, on Feb. 10.

The event featured startups of three batches from 2018 to 2021 who ventured out despite the pandemic, specifically from 2020 to 2022.

The batches included:

  • De Paul Budbud Sea Salt
  • Dela Torre’s Bangus Fryville
  • Bay Sur
  • Ediscape
  • Lagon String Instruments Manufacturing
  • AMC Marine Boats Manufacturing
  • Chemon’s Ongyod Coffee Manufacturing
  • Amjoe Food Products
  • 21 John

The Coastline 5023 Fisheries Technology and Business Incubator (FTBI) held meetings, boot camps, trade fairs, and training, among others, to assist these startups.

Engr. Rowen Gelonga, Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-6, in his video message, said “We are glad that today, we are having a new set of [micro, small, and medium enterprises] that have the potential to further grow our economy.”

He added that these MSMEs have the potential to create employment opportunities.

Ms. Milyn Leghid, Coastline 5023 FTBI Project Lead, told the graduates that “we are still there to connect, help, and assist you.” She also urged them to help sustain the FTBI.

Leghid, Mr. Phillip Ong, Santeh Aquaculture Science and Technology Foundation, Inc. President, and Vice Chancellor for Administration Prof. John Lorenz Belanio gave the certificates to the graduates.

Coastline 5023 FTBI is a technology commercialization and business development facility of UPV supported by DOST- Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) for the agri-aqua sector.
