Bingo might be a game to kill time for some, but for the police, it still falls under the illegal gambling category.
Ten persons, including five senior citizens, were arrested late afternoon of Jan 18, 2022 after they were caught playing bingo at Barangay Bongol-San Vicente, Guimbal, Iloilo.
The suspects were identified as Lilia Gayacan, 71; Gaudiosa Magbal, 72; Margarita Gamlanga,
69; Paciencia Gayoma, 63; and Emiliana Garalda, 60.
Also arrested were Amelita Gayoma, 56; Lynnie Gayacan, 43; Phoebe Arenga, 31; Bernadeth Arenga, 59; Carol Galiuan, 42. All suspects are females and residents of Bongol-San Vicente village.
They were detained and will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree 1602.
Meanwhile, members of Barotac Nuevo Police Station also nabbed five persons after they were caught in a “pauwak” or cockfight at Barangay Tabuc Suba.
The suspects were identified as Bautista Belvis, 33; Chady Margarse, 33; Joval Betito, 25; and
Rex Bracamonte, 42, all residents of Barangay Tabuc-Suba.
Also collared was Richard Entredicho, 44, of Barangay Tiwi, Barotac Nuevo.
The suspects will be charged for violation of Presidential Decree 449 (Cockfighting Law of 1974).
